Is it true Microsoft is dropping support for WinXP?

I thought I heard they were only dropping support for SP2 or EARLIER not those running SP3, but I just heard somewhere they are dropping all support for all versions of XP and 2000. Is this true? I think it would be unwise to do this as a LOT of people including me still use XP SP3...
