Is Polynesian art considered "non-western"?

I have to do a project for art/design & we're comparing western & non-western art. I wanted to do something different - something to do with Polynesian/Lapita culture - & was wondering if I could clify the Easter Island heads or tiki totem poles as non-western. Thanks
