What's the road to Hell?

If you were going to drive a car from, say, Newcastle upon Tyne to Hell, what route would you take? What is the distance and how long would it take to drive? At what point do you cross from the realm of the living to the realm of the expired? What goods and supplies would you take on the journey? Do you need doentation and if so what and where do you obtain it? Any special precautions or observations?
