How to get off fentanyl, duragesic patch, without weening?

My doctor and I have tried to ween myself off 100 mcq hr. patch changed every 48 hrs.. I didn't start this high, it was much lower and changed at 72 hrs. My doctor tried 75 mcq hr. but it made me go threw with drawls. The worst thing I have ever experienced. I really tried to tuff it out, but I ended back on 100 mcq. We have tried this several times. This medicine is taking control of my life. I find out it's the new popular street drug. That people who do heroin, want this instead. I never asked for this. My doctor told me that it might be a little hard to get off. This is the most difficult thing I've ever done. I'm on this medicine because I have genetic pancreatitis. My question is this. Is there any other way of getting of this medicine besides lowering the dose? Is there some kind of wonder drug out there, or am I destined to be on this the rest of my life? Is there anyone out there that has gone threw this? Thank you for reading my long question, and for answering.
