Please tell me all the inside info about Boone NC including snowfall, jobs, atmosphere etc. Thanks!!!?

I would really appreciate an insiders point of view regarding Boone and any cities near Boone in Western NC. The features that are most important to me are people and atmosphere (I understand it’s smaller towns but I don’t want to feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere), jobs (I have a degree in PR and tend to work in the customer service industry), snow and temperature (what can I say I love snow and cold weather!) and any general information you could provide me about the areas besides all the general stuff that seems to run together online. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me make this big decision!
